Mainstream media treats Tea Party protesters as dangerous aliens from another planet

The tea party protests that occurred spontaneously across the country on Tax Day kicked the liberal media slime machine into high gear. Since they have long been handmaidens of the Democratic Party, as long as there are individuals in the U.S. who don’t subscribe to the governing template of big-government liberalism, the media is compelled to view these protesters as a mortal threat to their plans to anoint Obama as the New Messiah. How dare these tea party protesters rain on America’s first black (half) president’s parade!

Thus, true to form, the tea party protesters were derisively dismissed by the media covering the event as right wing cooks, gun-toting racists and bigots. You can view a synopsis of the mainstream media’s contemptible reporting and commentary of the tea party events here.

The release of the DHS report on the prospect for dangerous right wing extremism, in conjunction with the timing of the tea parties, couldn’t have been more propitious. For the theme of that DHS political manifesto, masquerading as an “intelligence” report, is rife with the same presuppositions that dominate the media’s perception of conservatives as dangerous “extremists.”

As I have stated previously, liberals don’t think, they emote. In this regard, the DHS document is a crowning achievement of liberal sentiment run amok. It contains sweeping conclusory allegations about a wholly imaginary threat substantiated with not a shred of empirical data, but rather, based on the self-serving conceit that those who didn’t vote for Obama, those who don’t believe in affirmative action or same-sex marriage, and those who serve in the military, all are to be regarded as potentially dangerous racists, homophobes and insurrectionists, to be viewed with a jaundiced eye. In short, whether it be the infantile characterization of conservatives as possessing a predilection for violent extremism or the fervent belief, against all evidence to the contrary, in the inevitability of global warming, for liberals, facts don’t matter.

The sneering disdain the media has exhibited toward the tea party protests has a familiar ring. It’s yet another manifestation of the Sarah Palin Syndrome, complete with elite scorn for those who don’t share their value system and extreme leftist political philosophy. With her state college pedigree, Ivy League media elites viewed Palin’s conservatism as a dangerous manifestation of her ignorance, and as such, she and her family were the objects of the most vile and irascible commentary, and deemed fair game for character assassination. And, as a self-made woman, not born to privilege or riding the coattails of a politically powerful spouse, she represented a particularly heretical brand of blue-collar feminism.

The Palin and tea party incidents both illustrate one of the axioms of liberalism: leftists secretly loathe the very people on whose purported behalf they so valiantly toil.

Democratic Congresswoman Jan Schakowsky, decried the tea party protests as “despicable and shameful.” “It’s despicable that right-wing Republicans would attempt to cheapen a significant, honorable moment of American history with a shameful political stunt,” Schakowsky exclaimed. An “Obama-bashing party” is how Schakowsky described the spontaneous protests that occurred all across the country.

The mainstream media shares Schakowsky’s views. As their rankings at the bottom of the Cable News outlets attest, TV stations who habitually act as mouthpieces for the Obama Administration — most notably CNN and MSNBC — continue to erode what little journalistic integrity they have left. From the beginning, these broadcast organs of the Democratic Party, wholeheartedly and unabashedly threw their lot in with Obama. Since they have so much vested in his triumph, their cheer leading now, continues unabated. As such, those Americans who don’t greet Obama plans for bankrupting the nation with zeal are to be derided, belittled and excoriated.

What are the lessons to be gleaned from both the reporting of the tea parties as well as the DHS report?

The media will continue to caricature those who don’t embrace the establishment of the New Liberal Order as ignorant, backward yokels, who stubbornly refuse to acknowledge the wisdom of the liberal elect as their moral and intellectual superiors. From this point forward, conservatives should be prepared to be viewed not as Americans with philosophical differences with the president, but as extremists who need to be carefully monitored.
