The European Commission has recently issued a report highly critical of a carbon trading project in Africa, run by the man who oversees the environmental company Envirotrade. It seems as though the company has been making unsubstantiated claims about the environmental impact of its program which sells offsets to guilt-ridden socialites who can continue to live their commodious, carbon-rich lifestyle with a clear conscience. 

The problem, as the report notes, is that the facts don’t match the claimed environmental benefits:

The project attempts to offset an individual’s carbon footprint by paying poor farmers in Mozambique to plant trees, which absorb CO2, and to protect existing forests.

The commission’s criticism comes amid increased concern about the worth of these fashionable but largely unregulated carbon offset schemes. Critics say it is almost impossible to guarantee that the trees will survive the length of time needed to offset any significant carbon emissions…

Eco-Messiah Al Gore, has been one of the principal advocates for these carbon trading scams. Indeed, he owns a company that peddles these same penance for the guilt-wracked rich schemes. As I have previously noted, there has been no pressure from the media to force Gore to disclose the glaring financial conflicts of interest inherent in such an arrangement whereby the principal mouthpiece for global warming hysteria stands to profit handsomely from his prophecies of gloom.

Mercifully, 2008, very well may be viewed as the year global warming as a “scientific” theory was thoroughly debunked and discredited. Actual weather patterns, as well as faulty and spurious data on which this chicanery is predicated, belie the global warming theory.

In light of the current global economic downturn, a largely slumbering world public is awakening to the reality of the catastrophic costs that the harbingers of doom can’t wait to visit upon the Western economies, all in the name of a trumped-up supposition that no longer comports with the unblemished facts. The European Commission Report is just another nail in the coffin of what has now been incontrovertibly exposed as a grand-scale fraud and hoax.
